Or even more specifically, as counted in Swaledale, Yorkshire, as each locality has variations on the system. The numbers are based on the Celtic language of the area (generally Cumbric) before the Anglo-Saxons drove them out, and in this version tether is three and dick is ten. Here's a list of 1-20 in one location, and Wikipedia has several more.
