ackamarackus
Feb. 20th, 2024 08:12 amackamarackus - n., a fraudulent tale, a tall story, nonsense.
Especially blather designed to deceive or misdirect -- the Official Management Term is “the old ackamarackus.” This is pseudo-Latinate American slang from around 1930, first recorded by Damon Runyon in his 1931 short story “The Lemon Drop Kid,” and it's unclear whether he coined it or was using the latest new word on the street to give his story that patina of authenticity.
