bupkis (also bupkes, bubkes) - n., something worthless, nothing.


From Yiddish, from Slavic (probably Polish) meaning goat droppings -- literally, goat beans. I've usually seen it as bupkis, anyway, but dictionaries seem to think bubkes is more common.

I've usually seen (and used) "bupkis" as well – perhaps bubkes is more common in Yiddish.
