slantindicular/slantendicular
Jun. 24th, 2024 07:10 amslantindicular or slantendicular (slan-tuhn-DIK-yoo-lar) - adj., (US, obs.) oblique, aslant.
A colorful 19th century Americanism that, alas, did not survive into lasting popularity. I suspect this of being an American regionalism, but I haven't confirmed it. Apparently is a blend with slant + (perp)endicular, which suggests it's specifically for somewhat off vertical rather than somewhat off horizontal.
