vamoose - v., to depart hurriedly.

Another colorful 19th century Americanism, this one from the Southwest, where cowboys and prospectors rubbed elbows with Spanish-speaking vaqueros -- for this is an alteration of Spanish vamos, let's go (1st person plural indicative, being used as a colloquial imperative, of ir, to go), or possibly vĂ¡monos, (the more regular imperative form). The alterations include not just of spelling and pronunciation, but adding the sense of hurry.
