With connotations of not a good cheat. Often, and originally, someone cheating at cards: the original sense is someone who attempts to pass off four cards of the same suit in a five-card poker hand as a flush. An Americanism dating from around 1900 -- the verb four-flush, meaning attempting to pass off such a hand, is attested from around 1895.
