artophagous
Nov. 4th, 2024 07:31 amTheme week! One that got put off for a couple months by frequentives (which I still miss) -- -phagous, or words for having a specialized diet. All of these, the suffix is from the Ancient Greek suffix -phágos, -eating, from phageîn, to eat.
artophagous - (rare) v., bread-eating.
Used humorously, sometimes, to describe the French, but also of cultures and subcultures where bread is indeed the staple starch. The coined from Ancient Greek ártos, bread.
