periscian - adj., having the shadow moving all around.


Not particularly useful, you might think, but many dictionaries give only its derivative meaning: living in one of the polar regions. That is, where the shadow travels all around as the sun fails to set. From Greek roots, peri-, around + skia, shadow. See also amphiscian, also known as the ascii.

Y'know, that's odd, because I've seen a lot of periscian effects used in CG logos and the like. Maybe it's a word for which a new use has arisen?
