ineluctable - adj., incapable of being avoided, escaped, or resisted.
The first phrase that comes to mind is "the ineluctable conclusion." From Latin ineluctabilis, unavoidable, inevitable, from in-, not + eluctari, to struggle out of, from ex-, out + luctari, to struggle, wrestle -- which last is akin to the root for lock.
