passel - n., a large indeterminate number or amount.


Baby spiders always come in passels. An alteration of parcel, first recorded in 1835. Unfortunately, none of these dictionaries give regional usage, making it sound like it isn't dialectical.

yes, and children come in them too. A passel of children.

I use this word sometimes, but for fun, not "naturally"

Though I grew in DC, most vacations were spent in the South or Appalachia -- "passel" comes naturally to me, when I'm not specifically in a formal register.
