celadon - n., any of several Chinese porcelains with a translucent green glaze, or ceramics imitating these; the pale grey-green of these.


Per the dictionaries, the porcelain is named for the color, which is named after Céladon, a character in Honoré d'Urfé's interminable 17th century romance L'Astrée who wore pale green ribbons, in turn named after Celadōn, a character in Ovid's Metamorphoses. Wikipedia mentions some other theories, and gives pictures of the wares.
