precatory - adj., of, pertaining to, or expressing entreaty, supplication, or wish.


Not specifically prayers, but they can be too. From Latin precātōrius, from precārī, to entreat, and cognate of precarious -- which morphed from the sense of entreating another through being in an unstable situation dependent on another to just the unstable position. Despite the cognate, precatory is stressed on the first syllable.
