Also a verb, to fertilize with same. The word I actually had on my list was the adjective marly, but that seem too complicated to explain. From Middle English as marle, from Old French, from Medieval Latin marglia, diminutive of Latin marga (meaning marl), said by Pliny to be of Gaulish origin, although modern Celtic cognates are believed to be borrowed from Latin or French, so who knows if he's right.
