tupik (also tupek) - n., a tent used as an Inuit summer dwelling.


Well, it's not like they can use igloo all year. Made of animal skins. From Inuit, natch -- usually spelled as tupiq in that language.

In weather too warm for an igloo (meltwater dripping from the top) and too cool for a full tupiq, a hybrid with ice walls and a skin roof may be used.

Don't know. I've just read descriptions of it being used. I'm sure it has a unique name of its own.
