Stress on the third syllable, -nee-. Adopted in the 1880s from Italian (and that's a story I want to know more about), from Greek roots miso-, hatred (same as misogyny) + neos, new + -ism.

Oh, I was complaining about yet another "improvement" to the interface for a site - in this case, DeviantArt - in a post there with subject line "Obligatory Misoneism about v6" (if I recall rightly).

I'll freely admit I've seen worse, but...
