mundicidious - adj., (obs. rare) likely or able to destroy the world.

Coined, apparently by 17th century author Nathaniel Ward, on the pattern of homicidious (less rare, though just as obsolete), from Latin roots mundus world + -cidious from -cida, killer. There's a word for being a world killer, people. It exists!

A world in which there's a word for this is a pretty cool (if also imperiled) place.

But come to think of it, we've always imagined gods as capable of destroying worlds, so....

It is a word that deserves to be brought back from obsolescence and rarity.

Why is this word obsolete?!! We need this word. On an almost daily basis, recently.

Possibly because hardly anyone reads Nathaniel West.

So, has Nathaniel West revived Nathaniel Ward's word coinage, or was that a tyop?
