traghetto - n., in Venice, a two-man gondola used as a ferry across the Grand Canal.

Currently, there's seven traghetto crossings. From Italian meaning "I ferry," first person present tense of traghettare, to ferry. Those who row it are traghettatori.

The ironic slang possibilities are great. "Did you see homie's new car?" "Yeah, that old sports car is traghetto. It can barely get across town."

"Is traghetto" or "is a traghetto"?

"Is traghetto," based on "Is totally ghetto." Tra becoming a backformed adverb, essentially.
