peignoir - n., a woman's loose dressing gown.


Literally, in French, "comber" -- that is, something worn while one's hair is being combed. From peigner, to comb the hair (from Latin pectinare, from pecten, comb) + -oir (from Latin -ōrium). In use in English since at least 1835.

Chosen in hopes that it'll force me to learn how to spell it....
