foulard - n., a light plain-weave or twill-weave silk or silklike fabric, usually decorated with a printed pattern.


Used, for ex, for neckties and scarves. Also, an article made from this fabric. Used from 1830 (so keep it out of your Regency), taken from French for a silk handkerchief, at which point the lexical trail ends -- stupid dictionaries.
