tawse (TAWZ) - n., a leather strap with one end split into tails (formerly?) used for corporal punishment in schools.
At least, we hope formerly. Also, as a verb, to apply such punishment, and sometimes by extension as if by such means. In use since the 16th century, apparently the plural of Scottish taw, leather strap, though the plural was recorded before the singular was, oddly enough.
And that wraps it up for the Ts. Back to the usual mix next week.
