metempirical (met-em-PIR-uh-kuhl) - adj., beyond or outside the field of experience; of or pertaining to metempirics.

Where metempirics is that branch of metaphysics dealing with the existence of things outside or beyond experience, either one's own or anyone's. Since I can't say I've ever met a metaphuysician who specializes in this, or indeed heard of this before stumbling across the word, I think I can safely call this an obscure term, if not an obscure subject. Coined in 1874 from Greek roots met(a)-, beyond + emperic, experienced, and the main reason I've picked this as pretty good is for the demonstration of the rare disappearance of that (a) in front of a vowel.
