zebu (ZEE-boo) - n., a domesticated cattle of south Asia and eastern Africa with a large shoulder hump and a dewlap.


Bred originally in India, and also called Brahmin cattle. The name was borrowed from French in the 1770s, but where it came from before that is anyone's guess.
