shaddock (SHAD-uhk) - n., pomelo.
That is, another name for the citrus tree or its very large fruit with a thick yellow or pale-green rind and sweet white flesh. Native to southeast Asia, it was introduced in the West Indies by one Captain Shaddock, an English commander, in the 1690s. (Pomelo itself is pseudo-Spanish alteration of pomplemoose.)
