alala (ah-lah-LAH) - n., a brownish crow (Corvus hawaiiensis) native to the island of Hawaii.
Now extinct in the wild, though reintroduction efforts are being made -- surprisingly for a corvid, it did not adapt well to humans (being hunted for rumors of disturbing crops did not help) or other invasive species. This time I don't need to choose a spelling to get a palindromic name. From the Hawaiian name, ʻalalā.

Thanks, WikiMedia!
