Theme week! Another round of frequentives.

flutter (FLUHT-er) - v., to wave or flap rapidly in an irregular manner; to vibrate or beat rapidly or erratically.


This one goes back to Old English floterian, frequentive form of flotian, to float. In Middle English the vowel was still floteren, so I'm not sure when it deepened to /u/.
