percribrate
Mar. 24th, 2009 07:17 ampercribrate - n., (obs., rare) to sift, pass through a seive.
I'm not certain of the spelling, as my only source, the Worthless Word of the Day, spelled it percribrate when it WOTDed it but as percrebrate in the glossary. Given the etymology and listed misspelling, I believe it really is i: from Latin percribrare, to sift thoroughly, from cribrum, sieve.
