boustrophedonic - adj., writing alternate lines in opposite directions.


So one left-to-right, the next right-to-left, the next left-to-right again. Wikipedia has an example. Very common in the first alphabetic scripts, including the earliest Greek inscriptions. Easter Island inscriptions are also boustrophedonic. From Greek meaning "turning as the ox in plowing," from bous, ox + strephein, to turn.
