fugacious - adj., fleeting, transitory, evanescent; (Bot.) withering or dropping off early.


In use since c. 1630, adapted from Latin fugāx (in its combinatory form fugāci-), apt to flee, from fugere, to flee, as in fugitive.

And that completes this fugacious week's selection from the supposed 100 most beautiful English words. There were, IMHO, some more beautiful ones on the list, but they would be repeats. Alas, how quickly the time flies. Back next week with the regular random mix.
