selcouth - adj., strange, unusual, uncommon.


A somewhat *cough* uncommon word, but at least it has an old history: from Old English seldcūth, from seldan, seldom + cūth, known, the latter being not the couth from uncouth, but its root, the past participle of cunnan, to know. Pronounced SEL-kooth, as you might expect.
