lecanomancy
Aug. 3rd, 2009 07:35 amlecanomancy - n., a form of divination using a basin of water and either three stones or oil.
When using stones, the sound of the dropping and the shape of the ripples are interpreted; when using oil, a little is poured on the water and the shapes interpreted. How scrying in water is different from this, I don't understand. From Greek roots, lecano- meaning basin or bowl. Pronounced le-CAHN-oh-man-see.
