churrigueresque (also churrigueresco) - adj., of or pertaining to a Spanish baroque architectural style marked by extreme, expressive, and florid decorative detailing, especially on facade over the entryway.


Used in Spain and its colonies from the late-1600s through the mid-1700s. Can be found on older buildings throughout Latin America -- or take a walk down to your local Google image search. Named after José Churriguera (1650-1725). Pronounced choo-ree-guh-RESK.
