nearing clothes
Sep. 11th, 2009 07:20 amAnother Forgotten English Friday. Yay?
nearing clothes - "The garments or linen worn next to the skin. —James Halliwell's Dictionary of Archaic and Provincial Words, 1855"
Unusually for Halliwell, I'm not finding any citations for this aside from his and a handful derived from the Forgotten English calendar. Which is a pity, as I'd really like it to be true, but I'm not yet convinced it is.
