helminthology (hel-min-THOL-uh-jee) - n., the study of worms, especially parasitic worms.
Can I hear a round of applause for nematodes? Coined in the 1810s from Greek roots helminthus, worm + -ology, study of. Which means, of course, you now know what root to reach for when calling someone batrachian no longer will do and you need to descend from toadlike to wormlike.
