flitch - n., a side of cured meat, esp. a side of bacon.


Where a side is the flesh of the abdominal wall. Etymology slightly obscure -- sources agree on it's from Middle English, flicche, from Old English, flicce, but disagree on whether or not that root is related to flesh or not.
