bellibone (BEL-uh-bohn) - (obs.) n., a woman excelling in both beauty and goodness, a fair maid.


It's not often I let myself use completely obsolete words, but this was was too pretty to pass up. I think it shows up in dictionaries at all because Spencer used it. From French belle et bonne, beautiful and good.

It is lovely. I wonder how it became obsolete. I hope this wasn't caused by utter lack of true bellibones.
