With a sense of done hastily, without full consideration. Adjectival form of autoschediasm, which was apparently borrowed in the early 19th century by Thomas de Quincy from Greek autoschedíasma, which is the resultive noun form of autoschediázein, to extemporize, from autoschédios, offhand, improvised, from auto- + schédios, near, casual. As a borrowing, it never really caught on, and is close to obsolete as well.
