cwtch (kooch) - n., a hiding place; a room or shed used for storage. v., to hide; to hug or cuddle (often with "up"), to clasp to oneself.


Welsh, right? Couldn't be anything else with that vowel,* even if it is sometimes spelled cootch. But specifically, it's the Welshification of English couch (itself from French couche, from coucher, to lie down) possibly under the influence of Welsh cwt, a hut.

* Just remember, it's really just an ω (Ωmega).
