pachydermatous (pak-i-DER-muh-tuhs) - adj., thick-skinned.

In both the literal sense of a hide and the metaphoric extension of insensitive to criticism etc. Also, of or relating to elephants, for those pachyderms are indeed named after having thick skin: it was borrowed around 1830 out of Neo-Latin Pachydermata, a declension-mangled form of Greek pachýs, thick + -dérmata, neuter plural of -dermatos -skinned, an adjectival form of dérma, skin. But you shouldn't let such grammar lapses get to you.
