murine (MYOOR-een) - adj., of, relating to, or resembling a rat.

Or mouse -- the word isn't picky. Any member of the Murinae family of Old World rodents will do quite nicely. Especially with their cute hairless tails and twitchy noses and 'satiable scurryings. Not that there would be any metaphoric possibilities in this one -- perish the thought. Borrowed around 1729 from Latin mūrīnus, of mice, from mūs, mouse (which is also the root of muscle).

Off tomorrow for the long holiday weekend -- back on the 6th with the regular mix.

One of my favorite, all-time-best, product naming infelicities is Murine Eye Drops.
