prettygoodwordscoter (SKOH-tuhr) also scooter (SKOO-ter) - n., any of the large sea ducks of the genus Melanitta.
Five species, all from inhabiting the high latitude coastlines of the northern hemisphere. Male plumage is mostly black with white eyes, while females are brown. Origin of the name is unknown, but it has been used since at least 1674.
