prettygoodwordbilby (BIL-bee) - n., a long-eared species of bandicoot (Macrotis lagotis).
Often called a rabbit bandicoot both for the ears and being about the same size, though of course placental rabbits have nothing to do with marsupials, and also called a dalgite in Western Australia and a pinkie in the south. Name was borrowed around 1900 from the Yuwaalaraay Aboriginal language of northern New South Wales.
