septentrional
May. 19th, 2006 07:01 amseptentrional - adj., of the north.
A rare but lovely word. From Latin septentriones, from septem, seven, + triones, plow oxen, refering to the seven stars of the Big Dipper, also sometimes seen as a plow. It has a sort of boreal/autumnal sound to it.
