Very out-of-date Tudor slang, dating from around 1540, "origin unknown," that shows up in dictionaries at all largely because Capulet calls Tybalt one for wanting to eject Romeo from the party. Though of course, like all old-fashioned slang he could get Scott hands on, it shows up in a novel of his.
