cursorial (kur-SOHR-ee-uhl) - adj., adapted for running.


Used of an animal or of its skeleton/anatomy -- so you can say a horse is cursorial or that its limbs are. Watch out for the cursorial dinosaurs. Contrast gressorial, adapted for walking. Coined in the 1830s from Late Latin cursōrius, of running (also the source for cursory, being done rapidly).
