coxa (KOK-suh) - n., (med.) the joint of the hip.
Or also sometimes the hipbone itself, and also sometimes the first leg segment of insects. Plural is coxae, because this is medical Latin and we decline those as in the original, even if we borrowed it only around 1700 (most medical terms from Latin seem to be taken up either earlier or later).
