brocket (BROK-it) - n., a male deer in its second year with unbranched antlers; any of several small to medium sized deer of genus Mazama of Central and South America with unbranched antlers.

The first meaning, going back to the middle ages, was applied to the second -- originally spelled broket, from Anglo-French broquet, from broque, horn, from Medieval Latin broca, feminine noun form from Latin adjective brocchus, projecting (originally used of teeth).
