seder (SEY-der) - n., the ceremonial meal held on the first one or two nights of Passover.
In commemoration of the exodus of the Jews from Egypt. Elements include reading the Haggadah, which retell the story per the commandment of Exodus 13:8 ("You shall tell your child on that day, saying, 'It is because of what the LORD did for me when I came out of Egypt.'"), eating symbolic foods, drinking four glasses of wine, and a big festival meal. And children's games, and songs, and lots of laughter. Hey, with four glasses of wine, it's not going to be a solemn occasion. Held on the first night only by all Jews in Israel and by Reform Jews everywhere, held on both nights by Orthodox and Conservative Jews outside of Israel. From Hebrew, lit. meaning order/arrangement.
Have a safe and happy Pesach, y'all!
