blither/blather/blether - v., to talk nonsense. n., nonsensical talk.

Both in the sense of not making sense and gibberish. The root is Old Norse blathra. Which variant one uses seems to be dialectical; I notice that I usually blather on but use blither as the noun (and blithering as the participial adjective, as in "blithering idiot"), and never blether.
