wilga (WIL-gah) - n., a small drought-resistant tree of Australia (Geijera parviflora), having hard aromatic wood, white flowers, and foliage resembling a willow.


Eastern Australia, specifically. Also called native willow, sheepbush, and dogwood, per Wikipedia. Planted as an ornamental and as fodder for sheep. Name is from Wiradhuri, an Aboriginal peoples of central New South Wales.
