ballon (ba-LAWN, with a fully francophone nasal -n) - n., (ballet) the lightness and grace of movement that appears to extend a dancer's jump.
To the point the dancer almost appears suspended mid-air. Having good ballon is prised in a dancer, not just in ballet but other traditions as well, though the term originally is from French ballet. Adopted in 1830, and in French it literally means balloon (we reborrowed it for that word as well).
